Flying these days is a big enough hassle without losing your luggage. And losing your bags is getting easier and easier as the TSA is forcing more people to check their bags because of carry-on restrictions. Recently Forbes published some tips on how you can have a better chance of holding on to your stuff-
- put your name, phone number and address on the inside of your bags as well in case the luggage tag gets ripped off
- stick your itinerary in your bag so the airline will know where to re-route your luggage if it gets misplaced
- take a Polaroid of your bag with you in your carry-on so you can give it to the airline if they lose it
- if you can afford it you can ship your stuff to your final destination and avoid the baggage claim terminal all together

Any luggage tag that can be ripped off is dangerous, because thieves do exactly that. They rip off the tag at the airport and now that they have your address and know you are on vacation, they can rob your house. That's why leather luggage tags or any stronger material are the best idea!
