The BBC show Horizon has compiled their top tips to surviving a plane crash. Seems to us, that if you're plane goes down the odds are you're in for a whole heap of trouble but some of the BBC's experts argue that at least statistically, you have a much better chance of surviving if you're within seven seat rows of a serviceable exit. While some of these tips may be useful or practical, some are banal and pointless, like "keep your stabled tight." Either way, their website has lots of videos from experts in the aviation field about what you can do to help your chances of survival.
