that is bullshit. I hate taking my fkin ID out. They point blank tell you - if you don't have your I.D. you can not fly. This can't be correct. I infact DID drop my license out of my pocket in the car. (thank God) so, anyways, if you can't prove that you are that person ON the ticket, they will NOT allow you on the plane as tickets are NON-Transferrable. The name of the traveler has to be validated with a valid/non-expired pictured, state or government I.D. It is in place for our protection BUT it is also violating our privacy.

You can board the plane without an ID. Just a week back my friend's mother's passport(her only Id), had gone for visa stamping and she had to fly, they let her after getting clearance from an central security agency

Crazy times we live in regarding over the top security measures that are knee jerk reactive based on attempts that have already happened. The impact to honest people in terms of lost time due to excessive security measures now deemed necessary in the modern world adds up to man years per year.
