It's hot and spicy in the City these days and you can taste it in Midwood in Southern Brooklyn. This ecclectic area is where Sondra, Denise, Theo, Vanessa, and little Rudy grew up and Gridskipper says that this-
might be the world's only Jewish-Italian-Irish-Russian-Syrian-Turkish-
Pakistani-Ukranian-Azeri neighborhood. Although the train ride is long, there are dozens of ornate mansions owned by Syrian Jews, plentiful classic Beaux Arts apartment buildings and abundant food. Midwood is the kind of neighborhood where a walk down side streets reveals old Russian ladies selling home-knit sweaters, storefront synagogues next to storefront mosques and graffiti that was put up by artists who were living in St. Petersburg or Karachi just six months before. We like it that way.
