Where's the second best place to be for St. Patty's Day? At the second largest leprechaun hoe-down. And where do they have hoe-downs? Savannah. Well, maybe not hoe-downs, maybe just lots of green beer. Tripcart's been kicking it around Georgia and the South Carolina coast lately and we can't get Savannah off our minds.
In the 1730's old man Oglethorpe stuck his boots in the sand putting Savannah on the map and creating the colony of Georgia in the process. A few months later some Sephardi Jews came to set up shop and were followed by the Irish (who are obviously still alive and kicking), the French, the Greek, and hundreds of thousands of slaves. The nation's first state-charted, public university was founded here in 1785, but oddly ended up in Athens. Savannah's hospitality speaks for itself and it's lively River Street is one in a million, just try not to get freaky with it like Kevin Spacey. Arounder has some great 360 views of Savannah.
