What do you get when you mix a hippie with Andre 3000 in the desert? A great cover of Outkast's Hey Ya. We've been checking out the best of the best for our Arts and Entertainment section of our new Southern Arizona guide that should be out later this week and came across this amazing video of Mat Weddle from the local band Obadiah Parker playing in Tempe, Arizona. Enjoy.
(thanks fosfor)

You know what, "spisska"? Before you start throwing around terms like "useless," just settle down with your badass internet self, before the realization dawns on you that just because someone has a different opinion than you, that doesn't mean it's wrong -- & just because some dude with a beard makes a pop top 40 jingle accessible to you doesn't mean that he's cracked the 2 minute mile.
This version is OK. In fact, it's pretty generically bland. But expressing the opinion that it's just "OK" & not "EARTH-SHATTERINGLY AWESOME BECAUSE IT'S SO SO GOOD RIIITE??" is just as valid as posting it on the internet in some kind of context of "hey, dudes, here's a 'real' version of that pop song we all disdain for its superficiality."
& if you deny that that's what this shit is all about, then address any rebuttals to your own conscience & ego, homes. This is some seriously dumbass exalting of mundane cover-version "check-me-out" bullshit. Change Linda's "countrified" assessment to "wankified" and she & I are 100% in agreement.
So right on! Let's tone down the radio & bring everyone into the idealized bohemian coffee-shop of the mind! Or, you know, whatever's cool with the uninformed hipsterati this year.

I hate the guy. He reminds me how badly I sing and I wished I was like him and able to sing like that.

"Countrified"? Linda, are you retarded? Just because something is acoustic doesn't mean it has a damn thing to do with "country" anything.
Get your head out of your ass.

I don't want to break any code of conduct, but does anyone know of a good place to find guitar tabs to Mat's song or something close to it? I don't want to step on his toes at all, but I think it'd be a blast to try and play it.

That's really awesome. I had no idea the song could translate to such a different style so well. Kudos to the artist!
