What do you get when you mix a hippie with Andre 3000 in the desert? A great cover of Outkast's Hey Ya. We've been checking out the best of the best for our Arts and Entertainment section of our new Southern Arizona guide that should be out later this week and came across this amazing video of Mat Weddle from the local band Obadiah Parker playing in Tempe, Arizona. Enjoy.

Lol, this reminds me of when Travis did a similar acoustic thing with “Hit me Baby One more Time.” The weird thing about their rendition, is they were being deadly serious when they did it. I found it a bit weird, but I am a Travis fan so I let it slide. I still think they were joking around, but did the whole 'serious thing' to add to the joke.
As for this version, its pretty OK. I'm not a fan of hip-hop, and this isn't really country. This is more a folksy vibe, or just plain acoustic guitar vibes. The whole Polaroid picture thing still irritates me though- and the song lyrics don't make much sense in my mind. Oh well, whatever.

If you think this is good, check out the version that Sam Lloyd (Ted) did in the show Scrubs. Go to youtube and punch in Sam Lloyd Scrubs Hey Ya. It is fucking awesome. I was blown away the first time I heard it, and still am every single time.

I do enjoy traveling in Arizona, and what I like most when getting to a new place, is visiting all the places the locals go to - listen to the local's bands is also one of the best experiences one could ask for! I will look these guys up next time I'm there.
