Ok, ok, so it turns out that living in Detroit isn't quite as bad as being in St. Louis but that doesn't mean there aren't some serious problems. A group of four guerrilla artists have decided to take the city's blight into their own hands by painting abandoned buildings bright orange. They've painted about a dozen of them now and three or four of them have since been razed by the city. In person, the painted buildings are large-scale sculptures with peeling paint adding texture and the flat terrain of color highlighting positive and negative space. They also could be paintings, with beams and broken windows becoming a series of jagged lines.
