We're not the only ones who've noticed the improvements going on in Pittsburgh lately. Tripcart's been researching southwestern Pennsylvania for a new travel guide that will be out later this week, in the meantime you can check out this article from the New York Times discussing the gentrification going on in the up-and-coming neighborhood of South Side-
Mr. Sota, 56, is a prolific local developer who is constructing a series of nine “green” town houses, called Windom Hill Place, into a lush hillside here. He was drawn to the Slopes by the views and villagelike feel, which, for him, conjure memories of visits to Prague and Budapest.
“It’s just kind of quirky, funky and real, more organic, built by Europeans and other immigrants,” he explained. “The only other American cities that I find as geographically interesting are maybe San Francisco and Asheville, N.C.”

Another great place to learn about all the cool things there are to do in the area is at visitPA.com
Throughout the summer, the PA Tourism Office is creatively piggy-backing on the popularity of music “playlists” and are featuring a “Pennsylvania Playlists” campaign of our own on the state’s official travel & tourism website, www.VisitPA.com – where local celebrities and experts in a variety of fields from astronomy to wine are sharing with the world their PA Playlist, a list of things they like to do when they are in PA. Several strong participants like Franco Harris, Jeff Reed, Donovan McNabb, LaVar Arrington, Bill Hillgrove, Ken Wregget, Garry Maddox, Billy King, Chef Lidia Bastianich, Kathy Sledge from Sister Sledge, the Boogie Hustlers, Tom Ridge, Governor Rendell and his wife Marjorie, film producers, local radio & TV personalities, authors like Jen Weiner, Dean Koontz, Lisa Scottoline, Ray Wong, and many more are sharing what Pennsylvania has to offer.
